As Ramadan 2025 approaches, the UAE is gearing up for a month of spirituality, fasting, and community bonding. This year, fasting hours will be slightly shorter than in 2024, making it a more manageable experience for those observing the holy month.
When Does Ramadan 2025 Begin?
The Islamic calendar follows the moon sighting, and based on astronomical predictions, Ramadan is expected to start on March 1, 2025. However, the official start will be confirmed after the crescent moon is sighted.

Fasting Hours in Ramadan 2025
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from food, drinks, and other physical needs. In 2025, the fasting duration in the UAE will be:
- First Day: 12 hours, 58 minutes

- Last Day: 13 hours, 41 minutes
These hours are slightly shorter than Ramadan 2024, which had fasting durations ranging from 13 hours, 16 minutes to nearly 14 hours.
Adjusted School & Work Timings
To accommodate fasting individuals, both schools and workplaces will follow revised schedules:
- Schools: Class hours will be reduced by two hours, with possible rescheduling or cancellation of some exams.
- Workplaces: Both government and private sector employees will have shortened working hours, following UAE labor laws during Ramadan.

Eid Al Fitr 2025: Expected Holidays
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is expected to fall on March 30, 31, or April 1, 2025. Depending on the official moon sighting, UAE residents could enjoy up to six consecutive days off during the festive break.
